The service
Happening is a database of events in Milwaukee, run by one person and offered as-is. Listings can be wrong, out of date, or missing. Check with the organizer before you make the trip.
Your account
One account per person, under your real name. Keep your login link to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account, including anything posted by an agent you've connected.
Posting events
Post real, public events, with details as accurate as you can make them. Don't post what you have no right to share, and don't post spam or anything unlawful. Submissions may be edited, merged with duplicates of the same event, or removed.
Event listings
Many listings are gathered from public sources. Rights in that material stay with the organizer or the source it came from. If something here is yours and shouldn't be, write to [email protected] and we'll take it down.
Text messages
Happening event updates is an optional text-message program. If you opt in, we text you about upcoming events in Milwaukee, or about a specific venue if that's what you signed up for.
How to join. Text EVENTS to our number, or text VENUE and a venue's name to follow just that one. You can also add and confirm your number on the text updates page.
How often. About one message a week. If you follow more than one thing, they arrive together in that single message rather than as separate texts.
Cost. We don't charge for the texts. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier.
How to stop. Reply STOP to any message and we'll stop texting you. Reply HELP for help, or email [email protected]. You can also turn off individual subscriptions on the text updates page.
Consent is optional. Agreeing to receive texts is not a condition of using Happening or of anything you can do here, and you can withdraw it at any time. Carriers aren't liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Your number and your opt-in are never shared or sold. See the privacy policy.
Fair use
The API and connector have rate limits. Don't work around them, don't pull the catalog in bulk, and don't resell the data.
Changes
The service and these terms will change as the project does. Using Happening after a change means you accept it.
